Global Medical REIT retained US Cancer Specialists to help evaluate two separate large cancer care portfolios for acquisition in the southeast. Mike’s analysis of the in-place business operations, equipment and competitive landscape across multiple sites of care and clinical modalities, including medical oncology and radiotherapy, provided critical insight that aided our investment decision making. Mike exhibits deep subject matter expertise, professionalism and is enjoyable to work with, all reasons why we look forward to enlisting him to help with future opportunities.
Mike is a total wellspring of strategic insight, backed by first hand experience, observations, data and research. Extremely articulate, clear and has way of presenting complex material and content in an understandable, digestible way. Quick to connect the dots, Mike is gifted at understanding the potential relationships and opportunities not immediately evident to the rest of us in the healthcare environment, and then an idea generator for how to creatively act upon those opportunities. Looking forward to, and will seek out, the chance to work with Mike again in the future.
Mike is an exceptional professional. He brings a level of expertise and experience that has made a challenging project across geographies and cultures feasible. He contributes practical, well-conceived work products in a timely and efficient manner, as well as tactical and strategic guidance. He has found a way to be both pragmatic and creative, while remaining accountable and flexible. These qualities are not found easily in a colleague and I have come to rely on Mike as a key advisor.
“I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to bring Michael into my clinics two years ago. We were in the infancy stages of Meaningful Use. Nothing was working on our dashboards. Michael was instrumental in putting together our quality measures and assisting with the construction of our encounters in ARIA. The entire time that he was with us it felt like he was part of the team. After Michael’s work was completed, he continued to check in periodically to see if we needed any additional assistance. He truly cares about his clients and goes the “extra mile” to ensure that all needs are met.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation for all your coordination efforts and technical expertise offered while Hennessy Construction Services was replacing the two Varian linear accelerators for the Gulfcoast Cancer Institute at St. Anthony’s Hospital. This project had many inherent difficulties in the design as we dealt with the required phasing and ongoing operations at the facility, the existing mechanical equipment and electrical gear that required relocation and reconfiguration, and the required coordination of the two very distinct Varian linear accelerator equipment designs with Haynes Architecture, P.A. and Advanced Systems Engineering.
It would not have been possible to achieve the extremely short renovation schedules for both of the two affected areas without your leadership and expertise. We especially appreciated your availability and Gulfcoast Cancer Institutes’ proper documentation procedures as reviewed during both Agency for Healthcare Administration’s (AHCA) final inspections that allowed for occupancy and use of the newly renovated areas by patients.
At the beginning of this year I was introduced to Michael Peters, our new GE Oncology Solutions Manager for the Southeast. As he explained his new role, and took the time to share GE’s philosophy and portfolio for the Oncology Service Line, I was rather skeptical. He asked if there was anything that he could do for my department that would demonstrate GE was serious about helping its strategic customers. Upon hearing further of the value added work his team had within other institutions, I thought that their level of experience would be instrumental in clarifying the vision, goals and scope of services for a quality Radiation Oncology program. In working directly with Michael he took the time to understand our specific needs to drive quality change, putting our success first and helping to better position ourselves in the marketplace.
Michael’s work has changed the perception of GE as a strategic partner within an institution. The expertise he brought to bear has made our facility stronger. I can say without hesitation that I am no longer a skeptic, but a supporter of GE and Michael.
Michael brought a valuable amount of executive healthcare experience to the project and delivered it in a very professional and adept way that was easily comprehended by all involved in the project.
I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Peters for three years as well as through a consultative engagement with Baycare Health System and GE Medical. So I can speak with authority about Michael’s background, leadership qualities and his attention to meeting customer needs.
Michael possesses the unique combination of clinical training and operational management experience that serves him well when interacting at the team level regarding patient care issues or presenting consultative findings and recommendations at a Board of Director’s meeting. During the GE consultation, Mr. Peters completed a thorough analysis of Baycare’s oncology service line with specific attention paid to medical imaging management and other information system needs. This analysis resulted in several specific recommendations, many of which were implemented in the health system.
Michael has worked with our team at Florida Hospital Tampa to develop a navigation and survivorship program for our Cancer Center. He did an excellent job of working with the stakeholders of our program, interviewing them to understand our needs. With his understanding of Oncology and operations he has compiled the information into an action plan for our team to be able to improve our current program and also meeting the requirements of ACOS going forward.
Michael led a team that provided my company a gap analysis and work plan to become ACR accredited in Radiation Oncology. Mike did a great job of team interviews, site analysis and then synthesizing the info to make actionable recommendations. He provided us with an easy to follow and comprehend presentation that detailed where we were and where we needed to be with recommendations on how to get there.
He was very friendly and had a stung knowledge of the subject matter. I trusted what he said and welcomed his input. I’d be happy to work with him again and would recommend him to others.
I worked closely with Mike on a major implementation of multiple systems and processes in support of the opening of a new oncology facility. Mike played a pivotal role in not only the facililty operations setup, but also the design of the systems and associated business requirements. He wore several hats during the project and showed versatility in his management skills. His knowledge of the radiation oncology business ans associated technology makes him a valuable addition to any healthcare related company.
I feel confident that Mike would be an asset to fulfill your company’s business goals and objectives.
Ochsner Medical Center (OMC) was at a crossroads with the Oncology Service Line. Though there was a rich history and tradition in oncology treatment and research from the organization’s inception, there was not a solid long-term strategic plan in place. With an Ochsner commitment to a significant capital investment in oncology underway, GE partnered with OMC over an 18 month period to provide the strategic direction needed to catapult the program forward to new heights. Michael who had significant experience in the oncology arena accomplished this through systematic discussions with all stakeholders. A year into the plan, we could not be more pleased with the path GE’s Oncology Solutions had put us on for the future.
